what were they thinking
This unit was purchased as a Christmas present for my son a few years ago - for the first 6-8 months all was fine till the first time the power went out - when it came back the red power light on the Sony was flashing and the unit would not turn on. I went to the sony web site and tried to figure out why the unit would not turn on - I eventually got it to turn on trying several different FAQ suggestions problem is I not sure how I fixed it - now it’s done it again and I can’t get it to work this time.

I would not recommend this unit at all.

All plastic to many buttons and knobs and bad reviews. Sent it back.

The best sound system I ever had!
This is an excellent product! 280Watts, 3-way sound purity. The groove feature is perfect for parties and can be switched off if you don’t want to bother the neighbors. The best feature is the front auxilary connection; you can connect it to your TV and you got yourself a home theater with no noise at all! The long cords allow you to easily have the speakers on both sides of your TV.

Easy fix for GX250
I recently repaired a GX250 that refused to turn on (flashing power led), and apparently this fix works for most other problems too, including “no disc” errors and no sound output.

What you need to do is clean and reseat the (widest) white ribbon connector that connects the front panel to the large circuit board on the side. To get to the connector, you’ll have to take off the sides and the top, and then unscrew the cd tray so you can lift it up and get your arm and hand in far enough to reach the connector from the opposite side. Then unplug the ribbon cable, blow the connector out with some compressed air, and plug it back in firmly.

Don’t Buy This Machine
Well I guess you can say I am lucky… I have had this machine for a year and a half. Similar to two other reviews, today the CD stopped working. No reason. No weird sounds. A week ago it worked and today it doesn’t. Just flashes No Disc and won’t play anything. Priced at $169-199 CDN, I expected a lot more than this from a Sony product
