Product Description

Immerse yourself in outstanding color reproduction and 1080p picture quality with the KDL-40V3000 LCD Flat Panel HDTV.BRAVIA V-Series televisions are where Full HD 1080 starts. Performance functions like Live Color Creation and the 10-bit panel display assure picture quality, while BRAVIA Theater Sync offers easy one-button operation for enjoying a Sony A/V system. Add a sparkling new black picture frame design, quiet operation, and you have the new BRAVIA V-Series HDTV.When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels (more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content. And working with BRAVIA Engine EX everything from standard definition and high definition is upconverted to 1080p for a picture so real it’s like you’re actually there. While it’s great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it’s a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That’s the logic behind Sony’s 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced.

Great for use with an antenna for off the air reception 5
Beautiful colors and outstanding clarity. I do not subscribe to cable or satellite and use a rabbit-ear antenna. I bought this TV a few months ago to replace a 27-inch picture-tube set which worked well, but I had to keep fiddling with the antenna to get adequate reception. With this HDTV set I just set the UHF loop ONCE and that was it. I don’t have to use the long VHF dipoles at all, as all the digital channels are on UHF in my city (as in most places). I am getting a lot more channels than before: for example the local FOX affiliate has an HD channel as well as an SD channel. Same with the other three major networks. I am catching some local/community channels that I didn’t even known existed. More and more local digital broacast channels are being added. The resolution is great (much better than cable). I live within 15 miles of most of the TV stations in the area.

Delivery by Amazon was great and the price was fantastic. The XBR series is supposed to be the top of the line SONY but I couldn’t see a significant difference in clarity when browsing in the local electronics stores.

very pleased new owner 4
I have had this tv for about a month and a half now. Delivery through Amazon was flawless. I immediately upgraded to a time-warner HD cable box. After resetting the picture options to much more realistic and pleasing colors, brightness, and contrast I must say that I am thoroughly delighted with the performance of this set. HD channels are amazing, SD channels are quite good. Wish Time-Warner had more HD channels. I am using HDMI from the cable box without any problems and component cables from a standard DVD player. The DVD picture is a little better than SD but I am definitely considering an upgrade to a Blu-ray player as soon as the prices drop a little. At $1299 with free delivery I feel this TV is an excellent value. I understand SONY has just released their new models, which probably accounts for the discount on this one.

Service request is a nightmare! 2
Product is fine except there are two horizonal lines on the screen (missing Pixels). It has been well over a month since I made a request for repair from a Sony authorized repair organization. My opinion: if you buy a Sony product, keep your fingers crossed that it does not need service.

Love this TV 4
I can’t think of anything bad to say about this TV. The color is great, the size and weight are fine. The connector options are adequate. I use Time Warner and have found that if I use an HDMI connection to the cable box all other connection options are shut down. I recall earlier, with another TV that the installing Time Warner technicians warned me from trying to use HDMI service with Time Warner, at least here in California. I think the HD picture I get using component connections is fine. The TV does appear top-heavy and the manual makes a big deal about strapping it to the wall. A strap comes with it, that I found unusable, but I did buy a furniture strap and have strapped it to the wall, which we do here in Southern California. But it could be pulled over or knocked over any other place as well. BTW I had no problem with the delivery service, in that it arrived with no problems. They didn’t offer to unpack it, and I didn’t have them to so.

Not surprised 5
I had my PS3 long before I purchased a HDTV because I wasn’t sure which to one to buy.I thought about Sony but the price is always a bit more that the rest. It was only after I had placed the order that I went to a store and saw about four other well known brands along with the Sony all showing the same DVD and all using the same type of cables. It was then that I knew that I had made the right choice.I now have to watch over all of my Blu-Ray disk because there are certain things that just couldn’t see on my older TV(which is a Sony Trinitron that I had for about 12 years and still works). As for the the quality when playing PS3 games this TV trully shines it seems like it was built for gaming and you will notice this when you hit the home key remote and the XMB shows up on the screen. Change the picture settings to Games/Text and be blown away by the quality. The local TV broadcast are just as good as the previous TV. Good things still come to those who wait esspcially since I got mine at $1369 brand new.
