fine piece of equipment
I have had my mhc-gx20 for over a year now and I have had no problems with it. It gets louder than I would ever want to listen to anything, and I love the sound quality.

Very poor quality
I purchased the Sony MHC-GX20 last December 2002, it was working fine only for 2 months. I started having CD problems, it won’t “read” any of my CD (any format). I am very protective of my appliances and used it sparingly and yet it brokedown within 2 months time, I was very disappointed to say the least. I sent it to a an authorized Sony service center, it did not help either, it worked for about 3 days and the CD stopped working again. I will discourage anybody to buy this product. Very poor quality.

I Love It
I love this mini shelf system. I do however have a sub woofer with mine. Although half of the time I don’t use it, because it sounds great without it. I like the fact it has the audio output on the front, it makes it much easier. The groove option really makes a difference on the way it sounds too. My brother and my sister both wanted one just like it. So I bought them both one for Christmas, and I have heard absolutely no complaints. They love it also.

System under the average
I always Have a fan of Panasonic but I have decide to buy Sony to make change.I have really disappointed by the manufacture quality of Mhc-gx20 which followed the same tendency which the Sony products which have been of less quality for last 3 years.

1: This system has no bass. For having bass, cranking volume (up 20 and maximum is 30)

2: the sound quality for 3 ways speakers is under average.

3: The cd charger has 3 disc done much noise, which is unusual.

4: Not have big equalizer (rock and pop only) OK. MOVIE and SURROUND equalizer but it’s for only movies.

5: … plastic remote (Not number on the remote for changing song and changing cd )

For the same price, Panasonic built sc-ak200 and this product is really better. Two way speakers of Panasonic is better and the bass is better. Panasonic has more quality than Sony and the ak-200, for the same price offer better choice in the sound quality.

I say that to you because I bought Sony in August 2002. After 2 months, I have to give it my mother and for Christmas, I received the ak-200, then, panasonic product are better.
