Amazon.com Product Description

This 200-disc CD changer features an 8x-oversampling digital-filter circuit that combines excellent phase linearity with superb suppression of aliasing noise to yield better stereo imaging. The four Hybrid Pulse digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are designed to place the DAC and digital filter on a single, integrated circuit. A digital servo-control system maintains stable tracking, laser focus, and disc rotation–all with high precision and low radiated noise. An optical digital output offers a pure digital connection with an MD or DAT recorder, as well as enabling DTS-encoded surround-sound CDs to be played through an outboard decoder. The three repeat modes allow you to replay a single track, a single disc, or all discs for continuous music.

Bought used and broken…fixed it in 10min. 4
Well, I have to say that the jamming problems are EASILY fixed by a minor adjustment. I guess taking the cover off is a little daunting to most people. Oh well, you all keep selling them on ebay so I can buy them cheap and fix them.

I like the one I kept, although I have $15 invested in it, so I suppose I just deal with what I don’t like. However, if I had paid $100-$200 or so, I would miss the cd text and keyboard connection. I’m not impressed by the optical out…I mean, it’s not 5.1 or SACD, so why bother tying up an optical connection on the reciever? It’s just not necessary. The block-play thing is good to have, but it could be better.

It’s all about organization, and Sony did a little better as they moved up the models. But still, the latest 400 DVD/SACD/CD changer (got a broken one and fixed it, too) still has organization problems in my opinion. They really need to add a processor to it all…Like a hookup for a Clie or something. That would be perfect. I’m actually looking into modding this CX225 to work with a pda, or something with a USB. Looks promising, but a LOT of hardware hacking.

Overall, I don’t think I’d pay more than $50-70 on this model, I’d just deal with a 5 changer or something (and buy lots of cd’s with the money left over). You’ll spend a good amount of time trying to organize everything.

Destroyed several CDs 1
This thing does not work. I could never get it to play more than one CD before it jammed. It seems to just toss CDs around inside. I never could figure out what the problem was, but it scratched several of my CDs to the point that they were unplayable. Avoid this!

Not what it should be 1
I have the CX200 which has a jaming problem. If you use this unit, you risk damaging your cds. Also, Programing from the remote and the unit are maddening. Sony’s 200 disc changer seems like a great idea, but isn’t. Don’t waste your money; change the cds yourself.

Mostly happy, but… 4
Unlike the other reviewer for this machine, I have had this CD Changer for three years, and have yet to have a problem with it. It treats my discs well, and does a fine job.

My only “complaint” about the machine is that I would like to be able to choose more than one of the “groups” to play randomly. As it is, I am limited to one group. Around Christmas time, though, I’d like to be able to pick my Christmas group, Children’s group, and Classical group to all play together randomly (skipping over the metal and dance music CD’s).

For someone with a CD library of under 200 CD’s, this is a great idea, as you can store your CD’s inside the player and never have to handle them again.

I’d buy it again.

Doesn’t peform basic function 1
I own the 200 disc changer. It worked for about three weeks, after which it started chewing up discs. When the carousel turns, discs get caught on plastic parts designed to hold the discs in. The result is: discs get scratched up, the system freaks out, complete mayhem. This was not a one-off event; it recurred often. Give Sony time to get the technology right. They are not there yet.
