Great looks, Mediocre sound
I’ve owned the DAV-c990 Dreamsystem for over two years. Looks great in my living room, but the first thing I noticed is it just doesn’t have the best sound, especialy for music cds. Movies sound OK. I am currently having problems with it reading discs, ejecting discs etc. I’ve gone thru all the troubleshooting I could find in the manual, on line and thru Sony. It still doesn’t work.I’ve learned from research on the web that many people have had the same problems. I hope I can get mine fixed. I recomend moving on to a different unit or brand.

Disappointing
Design flaw - when you are listening to the tuner and you eject a cd, dvd, the tuner stops
you get the cheapest of cheap cables to connect it to a sony tv - bought incidentally at the same time. (Sony tv has s-video connection at the side - great for camcorders but damn all use if you want to connect it to this unit permanently)
speakers should be wireless for this money.
Wanted to like this unit but very, very disappointed. Looks are deceiving.

MY DREAM HOME THEATRE
I LIKE THIS PRODUCT, THATS WHY I MARK IT ON 5 STARS. I LIKE THE STYLES OF THE 5.1 SPEAKERS, CUTE COLOR AND SIZE. THE HEIGHT GIVES MORE GOOD SOUNDS WHERE YOU SOUNDS LIKE ON THEATRE.MAYBE THE SOUNDS MAKE SURROUND IN YOU IF YOU WATCH MOVIES IN YOUR HOME.SO IF I HAVE THIS HOME THEATRE, I WATCH AND WATCH. I NEVER LIKE THE OTHER PRODUCTS LIKE PANASONIC, JVC, SAMSUNG. ETC. IN OUR HOME OUR ALL APPLIANCE ARE ALL PRODUCTS OF SONY.SO HOW I WISH I COULD HAVE MY DREAM HOME THEATRE.I HAD ANY DVD MOVIE BUT UNTIL NOW I DONT HAVE YET DVD PLAYER.SO I DIDNT WATCH THOSE FILM I BUY UNTIL NOW.SO IF ANY ONE CAN ABLE TO BUY THIS NEW SONY PRODUCT, BUY IT NOW, ITS GOOD PRODUCT AND SERVICE MADE BY SONY.DONT WAIT TOMMOROW.

Subwoofer could pack a better punch, but otherwise, great!!
… After shopping around various stores and online retailers for a week of two, I found Amazon offered at the lowest price. …It arrived a few days later, and I couldn’t be more pleased!
The satellite speakers in the towers are amazing. I don’t know how such small speakers can be so powerful. The one downside I noticed was that the subwoofer is not as powerful as it could be (maybe it if it had it’s own amplifier, Sony?).
Overall, the system is awesome. It is extrememly easy to set up, even for those who have trouble with eletronics. The DVD player provides some of the crispest images I’ve ever seen. As a home theater system, I am hard pressed to see how it could do any better.
